SO|DA’s latest development is the design for Umami Burger’s new Downtown location at 9th and Broadway. Deemed the marquee location, Umamicatessan will host 4 distinguished menus with guest celebrity chefs, a full bar with exposed keg room, and outdoor seating. Other completed projects this year include a high-end interior design project of a residence in Palos Verdes, interior graphic branding in two CEVA Logistics warehouses in LA, and a bathroom renovation in the Pacific Palisades.

The mixology cocktailian craving has landed its newest venue at 1886 in Pasadena’s Raymond Restaurant. Proprietor of spirits Aiden Demarest and Marcos Tello developed the new bar under their newly formed Tello Demarest Liquid Assets consulting group in collaboration with SO|DA. 1886 is the embodiment of uncompromising craftsmanship and tasteful innovation that was present in the original Raymond Hotel, built in 1886. Furniture and rack displays are custom designed by SO|DA and were fabricated locally.

One of the more challenging aspects to the architecture industry is permitting: obtaining clearances from different city departments, adhering to new and old codes, and coming up with the right strategy for approaching a project. In the past month, SO|DA has achieved a number of milestones with the permitting of our Sober-Living Facility, a bathroom renovation in Brentwood, and an Order to Comply for a downtown live-work project. This month has been all about restaurants. We’re in the final stages of construction for an entry renovation to Gonpachi Restaurant and are developing concepts for a new bar with Tello-Demarest Liquid Assets in Pasadena.

It’s been almost 6 months since we formed SO|DA, and we’ve already accomplished a lot of what we’ve set out to do. Aside from the numerous projects we’re working on and have already completed, we have launched our new website, formed partnerships with new companies and individuals, and developed something we call SODA Co(lab), which is a network for emerging professionals.
